CEB Corporate Leadership Council Staff Briefing
New Path Forward: Create Compelling Careers for Employees and Organizations

This event is reserved for organizations with an existing CEB Corporate Leadership Council™ membership.

Today’s career management fails employers and employees. Organizations can no longer rely on predictable, promotion-based career cultures to build capabilities and keep employees satisfied. Since the recession, layers have been removed from the organizations, and employers say they are not coming back. Join us to learn how the best organizations design careers around high value opportunities, target passive internal job candidates, expand career conversations beyond the manager, and offer employees job security by making them more employable.

  • 9 March 2016 | London | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • 5 April 2016 | New York | 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

You Asked

How can we meet employees' expectations for career growth given our organization's flatter, matrixed structure? As the external labor market improves and organizations remain flat, organizations will need to find new ways to meet employees’ expectations for career growth without the same promotion opportunities.

Our Research Says

Only 1 out of 5 employees are satisfied with their future career opportunities. To attract, retain, and build the talent they need to be successful, organizations need to redesign careers to build organizational capabilities and improve internal labor market efficiency to meet employees' career growth expectations.

What This Means for You

CEB Corporate Leadership Council Staff Briefing
Starting at the Bottom: It’s Time to Change Your Change Strategy

This event is reserved for Chief Human Resources Officers with an existing CEB Corporate Leadership Council™ membership.

Heads of HR are being asked to effectively implement changes faster than ever before. Successful organizational changes embed and sustain behavior change so that the entire workforce arrives at the desired outcome.

Most organizations rely on top down change strategies such as communication cascades and manager training. But top down strategies fail to achieve behavior change in today’s more networked, flatter, collaborative, and matrixed work environment. These approaches are slow, inconsistent, and ineffective—leading to a high failure rate. Rather than driving change from the top, the best organizations use bottom up and sideways change strategies that rapidly embed sustained behavior change to vastly improve the success rate of change initiatives.

Event Dates

  • 23 June 2016 | San Francisco | 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • 7 July 2016 | London | 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
  • 11 August 2016 | Sydney | 8:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • 25 August 2016 | New York | 8:00 am – 3:00 pm

You Asked

How can HR Business Partners and other strategic HR professionals create and influence change strategies that will rapidly and thoroughly drive behavior change across their internal partnerships and improve the success rate of change initiatives?

Our Research Says

HR organizations are being asked to implement change faster than ever before. To be successful—regardless of the type of change—these initiatives need to embed and sustain behavior change in employees, managers, and leaders so that the entire workforce arrives at the desired change outcome. Although most organizations rely on top-down change strategies, such as communication cascades and manager training, HRBPs experience firsthand the challenges of these approaches in a networked, flatter, and more collaborative work environment. HRBPs play a key role in influencing a shift from top-down to bottom-up strategies, the latter of which significantly boost change success rates.

What This Means for You

  • Develop, influence, and adapt change plans that create both short-term success and sustainable behavior change;
  • Craft change communications that drive true behavior change, not just commitment;
  • Model and drive the right bottom-up behaviors from line leaders, managers, and employees to improve the odds of change success; and
  • Get peer insights for engaging employees and managers during change implementation.
