The Intersection of Women and Technology at CEB

Gender balance in IT— just one of the topics discussed during CEB’s Meet the Company event with Women in Technology (WIT) in Arlington, VA on 26 February 2017.  CEB is a corporate sponsor of Women in Technology, a D.C. based organization that aims to advance women in technology.  As a sponsor, CEB is able to bring awareness to its commitment to supporting women professionals in technology.  One of the benefits WIT offers its sponsors is to host a Meet the Company event.  This event was a great way for WIT members to hear from some of CEB’s senior leaders and women across the firm about innovative IT solutions and research we’re focusing on.  IT is a priority and it’s an exciting time to learn about the topic and our career opportunities.


The event was kicked off by Irene Lane, a WIT board member, and Kristina Alafoginis-Vedder, Head of the EPMO at CEB.  Their introductions were followed by a presentation given by Kris van Riper, Government Practice Leader, on the current state of gender balance in IT and how organizations can apply certain tactics to retain and recruit women in the field.  Gender balance is a global concern and by focusing on diversity recruiting, providing work flexibility, and conducting manager training companies can improve the balance.

After the presentation, Veena Variyam, Research Director, IT Practice, Lindsay Mutimer, Quant Director, IT Practice and Erin Rogers, Portfolio Manager, Corporate IT sat on a panel moderated by Kristina.  They answered questions about their technology focused roles and how CEB supports women in the workforce.  Afterwards, there was a networking reception to give the audience a chance to speak with CEB team members and our Talent Acquisition team.  Event feedback from attendees and WIT was positive, and we look forward to continuing to partner with WIT on our initiative to bring more women into technology.
